Art journal cover

Hi there! Well I've been working on my art journal again and I finished the cover and thought I would share. I really like the way that this came out...just how I imagined it. It's hard to believe that this little adventure of mine is almost done... just a few more pages and I'll be ready to ship it. I hope everyone that looks at it enjoys it.

love

Here's my first creation on canvas. Did this little plaque for hubby as an anniversary gift. We went skiing on our honeymoon so I thought the ski background would be perfect. I then overlaid it with a pic of us and some "love" embellies...fun!

Changes....

Oh yes, we all have them....changes! Some are small, some are big. Some are made by us, some are made by others concerning us. I wanted to do this page for my art journal to represent our journey through life...a life that is forever changing!

A gal can never have too many...

I did this lo to signify that a gal can never have too many clothes. Here I am, camera in hand, bare feet, and very happy! I'm always taking pics, I always kick off my shoes the minute I get in the house, and I love to buy clothes. I really wanted to do a lo that I could use some of the tags from the clothes that I purchased and this is what I came up with.

Another 2 pager

Well, I've been working on my art journal some more and I came up with this 2 pager for the cig. theme. I thought cigs. floating to heaven would be good as it seems to me that smoking might just get you there faster. The other side is the cello from a cig. pack...looking pretty...something to draw you in perhaps. Oh the habits we have/could have?!!

Coffee!

Well, I've been working on my little journal for the art tour and I created this coffee 2 page spread. For the background, I sprayed Tim Holtz inks and various mists that I had. I also used a wet paint brush to spread the ink. Then I went to the sewing machine...as you can see in the final results. I'm really enjoing the "small" pages...fast and fun to play with!

Art Journal

Well the theme I picked for my art journal, from a list of themes, is "coffee and cigarettes". I'm not a smoker, but I do drink some coffee so I thought that would be a fun theme to go with. Lately I've been working on some of my pages for this fun little project. Here are some pics.

Milk Shake

What a name! "Milk Shake", neat name isn't it. This skinny can is full of wonderful foam that tames the frizzies...what could be better then that! Just bought this from my hairdresser thinking "I'll give it a try". I gave it a try and so glad I did...my mane (hee heeee) looks soft and sleek...what more could you ask for!
I did this lo for the color room. This weeks wonderful colors are: yellow, purple, white, and grey.

It's Friday...life is good...very good...unlike these BAD cartwheels! Yup! That's me...trying to do cartwheel just like I did when I was a kid...just not flowing as I pictured it!!! I got the awesome inspiration for this lo from Harmonie. I love that girls work...

I got it! (Art journal)

Well I got home yesterday, from a day of scrapbooking with my friends, to find my wonderful little sketchbook waiting for me! So far I've painted the front cover with one coat of paint...more creativity to go! The paper in it is a tad light but I decided that I'm just going to work with it rather then rebinding the book...well off to sketch...bye for now! :)

It's on it's way! (Art journal)

Yippee! I just received notification today that my sketchbook, for the 2011 sketchbook project, is on it's way. I can't wait to get my hands on it! Ever since I signed up all I've thought about is all the different pages that I could create and how I'll manage the pages. I've been reading up about this neat little book and have heard that the pages are rather light...what is one do do with pages like that....I'm either going to glue some pages together for greater thinkness, or add paper and tape to it to sturdy it up. I might even re-bind it as some of the folks have tried...can't tell until I get it. It really doesn't matter, what matters is that I'm just going to go with it and have fun doing so!!! In the mean time I'm getting my supplies ready! :)

I did it! (Art journal)

Well today I signed up for the "sketchbook 2011 project"! It sounds sooooooooooo exciting! I can't wait! I know, I know....just what is the sketchbook project! It's a sketchbook that you create, after picking a theme, in a sketchbook that they send you and then you return it to be exhibited all over....wow! How fun is that! The entire collection of books go on tour around the country! Later, all the books are cataloged into a permanent collection in The Brooklyn Art Library. You've just got to check this out! http://arthousecoop.com/projects/sketchbookproject/

Lucky!

Wow! It's Oct. already. Where is the time going! I feel like it should still be mid summer. With the cooler weather comes leaves and then snow...yuck...that means shoveling...yuck, yuck, yuck! That also means more scrapping time...yeah!!! Did this lo today in our nice warm home, scented by this delicious "dutch apple pie" candle...what could be better!

Another mini

This is my Christmas mini that I'm working on. I know, it seems a tad early to be working on Christmas goodies, but it's right around the corner! So far I have tabbed pages, which I will be filling with pics from last years Christmas Eve party and Christmas day. I thought I'd leave it out on the table this Christmas Eve for everyone to enjoy...maybe this will become a new tradition...with little mini's going to our guests...I think that might make sweet little gifts.

The "Me" mini

This is a "Me" mini book that I'm in the process of creating. I made this mini using Jillibean paper along with some Tim Holtz tape and a knob. I'm thinking that I want to add a pic and some sort of "type" on the front...still thinking about it. I thought it would be fun to create a mini of all the things that I love. So far I have two pages done...one taking pics and one of course of my love for tea...more to come!

Off to the city

My car is so fun to drive. It handles well and just simply has a lot of get up and go power. While going through my pp's this week, I came across this neat, upbeat paper and thought I'd scrap a lo. It describes my car perfectly...fun, full of spunk and adventure!

Oh this little guy of ours!

This little guy of ours is always looking for affection. So loving, is what he is. constantly on your lap purring a mile a minute! We must always watch how we walk because he's always right underneath us...just waiting to be pet or picked up and nestled or kissed. We just absolutely love this little guy!

It's that time again!

Vintage love

I really love the vintage look. Love browsing in antique stores and looking at anything old. The doors in this pic is part of an old factory that I spotted one day. Just had to get a pic of it...

Scrapping what I love!

Here we go again! Another lo of the tea that I love so very much. I took this pic of me so that I could scrap my love for tea. The lo says "I wonder how many cups of tea are considered too much." I used TCR's #18 colors for this one.

Tea Anyone?

I just can't seem to get enough tea...First thing in the morning, last thing at night...that's me! I used "TCR" colors from sketch #17 for this one. Tough, but once I started putting the colors together, they flowed easily. Just love that site...gotta take a look at it!

Love this line of Jillibean soup papers. Just had to use the birdhouse paper with some pics from my garden.

Our spot!

This week has been great! Hubby and I have been on vacation and getting sooooooooo much done and going to so many cool places...lo's to follow! This lo is of us at one of our "Greek" resturants that we love.

Hats, hats, hats!

I love hats. Some people just wear them sooooooooo well. In the summer I really like the look of baseball caps and wear them to block the sun from my eyes. In the winter, I will wear a knit hat if I'm going to be out in the cold for any length of time. This year my sweet dd has taken a liking to the cool knit hats with the ear flaps. This picture shows one of her hats...I think she looks great in hats! I scrapped this page because I want to remember the everyday. I want to remember that she put on knit hats almost all the time when she went out of the house during the winter.

Sweet baby "Coach" glasses

Did this lo of my dd wearing the sweet little glasses that were hers when she was a little tike. She was so good natured about putting these on when I gave them to her, as a joke, as a replacement for her VERY MUCH LOVED Coach glasses that she lost. My hubby and I wrote "Coach" on the sides of them and gave them to her....maybe we'll have to breakdown and buy her a real "adult" pair of coach glasses....until then, it'll have to be just the sweet memories of what she had!

Childhood dreams

I love the look of vintage. Now a days, with all the beautiful papers and embellies out there, it's so easy to put together vintage pages. I did this lo of myself using my childhood dreams/feelings as bullet points.

New glasses? Heeheeeee

Oh my darling daughter Jamie....she looses everything! This poor kid, as my father would say, would loose her head if it wasn't attached! She went to the Bahamas on spring break, had a fab of a time except that she LOST her Coach sunglasses. Her and her friends were on the beach and she decided to go into the water...she was only going to go in up to her knees and then one of her friends talked her into going a little further into the water. Well her glasses were on her head when a BIG wave came and knocked them off! She tried to grab for them, and even felt them drift past her fingertips, to her dismay, they were gone forever!
Well my hubby and I solved everything...we took a pair of glasses, that she had when she was a little kid, and wrote, with a magic marker, on the side "Coach". We gave them to her when she got home. She did laugh at them...at least we were able to get a smile/chuckle out of her! Heeeheee!

50's student?

My dd put on a wig and crew sweater and had this picture taken of herself to make herself look like one of those older 50's high school pics/gal. She posted this on facebook...I thought, this is just too funny, and of course I had to scrap it!

These days

Lately I have been scrapping using mists, sewing, and paint and I love it. I did this lo to represent this. Love the "old" look in this lo. I had so much fun doing this one!

Saturday, March 13, 2010

Then and now

Did this lo of my older sister and I. I'm the little gal on the left. Heeheeee. I don't remember being this small, my earliest memories are when I was in kindergarden...I do know that she has always been a very close friend and playmate...someone that I still hold very deeply in my heart.

Us

Did this lo of my hubby and I today. I used "Picnik" to alter the picture. Love being a member of that site...you can do so much with your pics!

Just lazing around

Did this lo of our youngest daughter relaxing on the couch watching tv and texting. Our cat was also enjoying the afternoon, just snoozing away between her legs...cats can sleep anywhere. These are the types of afternoons we all need. Lately, I've really been in the mood for sewing on my lo's...love this...so fun!

Coffee time

We seem to be a coffee family. Hubby and I enjoy going to Starbuck to sit back and enjoy the coffee and each others company...just the two of us, something that we haven't been able to do in years! Now that the kiddos are getting older, we are finding a lot more "us" time. Our kids seem to be watching, because they too are drinking coffee. This lo is of our oldest daughter making herself Starbucks coffee to go. It seems we are not all running on Dunkin' heeheeee!

Yummy cupcakes

Here are some very yummy and creative cupcakes that my youngest daughter make for Valentines day...I think they're just soooooooooo darn cute!

Happy Valentines day!

Happy Valentines day to all. Love is in the air, is it not! If we all really stop to look and listen to all the beauty around us, we can feel love. Take notice of the sweet chirping noice of the birds, or two squirels dashing after one-another. The smell of the fresh winter air, it just all spells love to me. I did this lo of my hubby and I for Valentine days. I really love the soft, upbeat colors...they just really give me a feeling of love!
